Over the course of the weekend iThemes rolled out a brand new design. In the official announcement post Kristen Wright said,
The new iThemes.com is here. It’s been a long time coming (the previous design was 3 years old!) and we’re excited to share some of the new features that we hope will enhance your experience with the site.
The new design, which is built on their flagship product Builder, is much cleaner looking and easier to navigate. Content is laid out in a much more orderly fashion thus making what you’re looking for easier to find.
In a Q&A session designer Brad Ulrich said,
We’ve built modified custom post types for a lot of the content on the site – products, team members and ebooks for now, and more coming in the future.
Designer Ty Carlson echoed those sentiments by saying,
… [iThemes.com] had become rather convoluted and difficult to keep updated. So the first objective … was to reorganize content and design a better system for managing the site moving forward.
In keeping with that philosophy, iThemes created a new store which houses all of their plugins and themes under one roof – no need to run off to a different web site, which is something I think confused some users in the past.
The theme sorter is another handy feature. You can now sort through all of the Builder child themes and classic themes on one page. Additionally, it will also sort through the various themes created by Lisa Sabin-Wilson’s Allure Themes, which is now a part of the iThemes community.
The individual product pages also saw a complete overhaul making for a much more pleasant consumer experience.
What do you think of the new design?
