Random Bits

Hello and welcome to the 7th edition of Random Bits where we take a look at items of interest from around the world of WordPress.

  • Ryan of WPCandy published his big, huge, giant list of WordPress news sources. Wow! I thought I had an impressive list of 150+ sites but Ryan’s list blows that one away. On a side note, I’m honoured that WPCanada is on the list of sites being monitored.
  • Otto describes the difference between filters and actions.
  • Remember that cool series of posts called So you want to create WordPress themes huh? written by Small Potato a few years ago? Justin Tadlock plans to recreate the magic by producing a new and up-to-date series. Can’t wait for that.
  • Sheri Bigelow talks about the top 10 features of WordPress you may not even know about.
  • Konstantin Kovshenin offers 5 tips on becoming a better WordPress developer.
  • WPlift put together a pretty good list list of 20 WordPress theme tutorials.
  • You know what really grinds scribu’s gears? Code duplication.
  • Kevin Muldoon of WP Mods shares with us a mind blowing 1,000 great WordPress designs. Holy crap on a cracker, it must have taken weeks to research and publish that.
  • Small Potato embarks on an ambitious plan where he hopes to release one design a day for 32 days.
  • Adii takes us on a tour of the new WooThemes.
  • Pete Davies, speaking from WordCamp San Francisco, gave a brief history of spam.
